Starting the ESTEAM Project
Last week with the introductory meeting of all partners in the ESTEAM project, co-funded by the European Union Erasmus +, the project officially started. The meeting took place on 8th and 9th November, 2016 in Idrija and Črni Vrh near Idrija.
The leader partner of ESTEAM project (Enhancement of School Teaching Methods by linking Between schools, experts and geoparks and the combination with outdoor activities and ICT technologies) is UNESCO Global Geopark Idrija (Center for Idrija Heritage), other partnering organizations are: Magma UNESCO Global Geopark from Norway, Naturtejo UNESCO Global Geopark from Portugal, one primary school in each Geopark - primary school Črni Vrh above Idrija (Slovenia), Samfundets Skole (Norway), Agrupamento de Escolas Jose Silvestre Ribeiro (Portugal), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia) and SME company Locatify (Iceland).
The main objective of the project, whose launch was in September 2016 and will last for three years, is to improve the quality of science teaching in the school system through innovative methods that combine interactive learning activities outdoors. Based on the analysis of the national curriculum and the needs of teachers and students we will be preparing science programs. From these programs mobile application will be designed , which will then be used for the teaching of science subjects in primary schools.
